Plot Outline:

Martin and Ruthie befriend a black kid named Alex who is senior and has just joined HS baseball team. Alex gets into a debate with his teacher Mrs. Porter, in Ruthie's class, over doing another report about Martin Luther King Jr. when he did one already the previous week on MLK holiday. Alex argues that he couldn't get his whole message in one day and doesn't like restricting on talking about Martin Luther King Jr. on just a holiday like Christmas. Mrs. Porter recosiders this, and makes the class now do another report on a great African American figure. Classmates Brad and Todd are not happy about this and purprosely pick a fight with Martin and Alex later on in the locker room. Afterwards Martin finds his car vandalized in the school parking lot with a hateful message on his car back window (i.e.*****lover). Martin refuses to move the car until the culprit cleans it themselves, despite a huge crowd growing in the parking lot and objection of the vice prinicpal and threatens to tow his car. Later on, a black tow truck driver refuses to remove the car after seeing the message. Eric and the police show up to calm the tension between the students in the parking lot. Martin also ends up on the TV news talking about the disruption at the school and standing his ground regarding his car and friend Alex. Eric addresses the tension in his Sunday sermon and know one fully comes forth on who vandalizes Alex's car. Alex also tells the congregation why talking about MLK a lot is important to him. Brad apologizes over his reasons on why he was upset even though he didn't vandalize his car. Martin and Alex wash the car themselves afterwards and have a car wash. The episode ends with students in Ruthie's class give out the names of important African American figures in society.
